Edificio del siglo XIV, de estilo gótico mudéjar de planta rectangular bajo la advocación de Ntra. Sra. de las Nieves, está formado por tres naves, siendo la central más ancha que las laterales, separadas por arcos de medio punto apoyados en pilastras toscanas de ladrillo.
A finales del siglo XV, se anexionó en el lado del evangelio, una pequeña capilla para el reservado de la Eucaristía. A través de ella se accede al trasdós del retablo que comunica con el presbiterio a través de una puerta de estilo mudéjar, el cual tiene una estructura poligonal de dos tramos, el primero es rectangular y el segundo pentagonal cerrado con bóvedas de crucería decoradas con pinturas murales de finales del XVII. En los laterales dos ventanas de tipo mudéjar con vidrios decorados. Al lado de este existe una interesante puerta de madera tallada en estilo plateresco de hacia 1550, por la que se accede a la primitiva y pequeña sacristía y también es otra vía de acceso a la parte trasera del Retablo Mayor de estilo barroco que adorna todo el frontal del altar mayor, data del siglo XVI.
En los laterales del antepresbiterio dos capillas cerradas con cúpula sobre pechinas, dedicadas actualmente una al Sagrario y la otra al culto de la Virgen de los Dolores y que en tiempos fueron creadas para el enterramiento de nobles.
En los pies una fachada-torre de ladrillo que en su cara este tiene un reloj de sol bajo un arco conopial y a su misma altura una ventana mudéjar; en la cara Oeste también tiene otra ventana mudéjar y queda rematada por un cuerpo de campanas coronado por un chapitel del siglo XVIII decorado con azulejos, que a inicios del XXI sufrió una restauración inicial que no ha finalizado. Se accede al campanario por una escalera que termina en una cúpula bulbosa decorada también con azulejos. En el interior, una puerta de acceso al coro y la torre, se encuentra en lado izquierdo la capilla bautismal, con una interesante pila mudéjar labrada en piedra, del siglo XV. Hemos de destacar sus dos portadas, Norte y Sur, formadas por arcos de sillería trasdosados ambos de otro formado por cabezas de clavo. Posteriormente, fueron dintelados con dovelas de sillería. Ambas están flanqueadas por baquetones. La posterior o Sur, lleva tres modillones de tipo cordobés que en tiempos darían soporte a un alero.
Por R. D. 554/1982, se declara monumento histórico-artístico de carácter nacional.
RETABLO DE LA IGLESIA
Es el más significativo ejemplo del arte sevillano de hacia 1500. Se trata de un retablo mixto de batea, pues estaba compuesto por pinturas y una treintena de figurillas de imaginería, de las que hoy en día solo nos quedan dos, situadas flanqueando a la escultura central de la Virgen de las Nieves. Su planta es recta y su alzado liso donde sobresalen las peanas de las estatuillas de madera y unos bellos doseletes con motivos del gótico decadente salpicados de elementos mudejáricos.
El retablo se colocó en 1508 y consta de un banco y dos cuerpos, divididos en cinco calles, dando trece tablas pictóricas de estilo hispano-flamenco inspiradas en grabados de Schöngauer, dedicadas a narrar la vida de Cristo y su pasión y la de la Virgen, completado con algunos santos de “protección”.
(Anunciación; Natividad; Adoración de R. Magos; Circuncisión). En la hornacina central talla de la Titular: La Virgen de las Nieves y un Sagrario colocado a posteriori.
Su autoría queda indeterminada, fue restaurado en 1623, en 1730, y la última en Madrid entre los años 1966-1971 por la Dirección General de Bellas Artes.
