VIEWPOINT LOMA OF AIRE

Description

Loma del Aire is located on the north-eastern boundary of the Sierra Norte de Sevilla Natural Park, straddling two river basins: the Rivera de Onza (a tributary of the River Bembézar) and the Rivera del Huéznar basin.

In this typical relief of the Sierra Morena, with successions of hills, ravines and ridges, the Loma del Canario and Loma de Quiruela stand out. The latter is named after a type of heather, known here as quiruela. In the distance, already within the province of Córdoba, you can make out Sierra Albarrana, in the neighbouring Sierra de Hornachuelos Natural Park.

In valleys and on slopes with better quality soil, larger holm oak and cork oak groves grow, mainly used for extensive livestock farming. The poorer, more eroded, acidic soils are covered with rockroses and heather, accompanied by shrubs of interest to the fauna, such as strawberry trees, laburnum, etc.

Some of the most emblematic birds of prey of the Sierra Morena, such as vultures and various eagles, fly over the area.
